Type designer

A type designer is someone who designs typefaces. This should not be confused with a typographer—someone who designs with typefaces.

An abstract representation showing the letter M being drawn by a pen, with horizontal lines representing the typeface’s vertical metrics.

Type foundries are businesses made up of at least one type designer with the purpose of selling their fonts. It’s not uncommon for foundries to be run by a single type designer.
